Lenovo K450e quad-core desktop PC for $700

              Lenovo K450e quad-core desktop PC for $700

Today, Lenovo is offering the quad-core K450e desktop PC for just $699.99. Add it to your cart, and you’ll instantly save 300 bucks off the sticker price. And considering how low that asking price is, the internals of this sleek, modern tower are nothing to sneeze at.

K450e On the inside, this model sports a fourth generation quad-core 3.6GHz Intel Core i7-4790 CPU, integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600, 16GB of DDR3 RAM (1600MHz), a 2TB solid-state hybrid drive, a DVD burner, a 300W power supply, and 802.11b/g/n WiFi support. And if you want to expand it even further, the process couldn’t be easier.

In fact, you don’t even need tools to upgrade this cleverly designed machine. Just slip off the cover, and you’re ready to upgrade as you see fit. You can get a 3TB drive on Amazon for about $90, so storage here won’t ever be a problem. Want to be able to play an awesome new release like Metal Gear Solid V or The Witcher 3? Just slap in a nice beefy discrete graphics card like the GeForce GTX 970 from Nvidia. Need to run multiple virtual machines? You can easily expand to 32GB of RAM.

The K450e is extremely flexible, so feel free to customize and tweak all you like. After all, that’s the very best part of owning a full-size desktop PC. You might be able to put some extra RAM in your laptop, but being able to update every single component is an experience that you’ll still only get with a desktop.

Better yet, it comes with four USB 3.0 ports, so you can simply plug-in external hard drives and peripherals if you prefer. With a few minor upgrades here and there, you can easily keep your machine at peak performance as time goes on. And thanks to Lenovo’s top-notch engineering, the upgrade experience is never a hassle.

Now, this model ships with Windows 8.1 (64-bit) installed by default, so you’ll have access to hundreds of thousands of apps in the Windows Store right out of the box. On top of that, you’ll be eligible to upgrade to Windows 10 at no extra cost. And since Microsoft’s new OS offers DirectX 12, game DVR, and the Cortana personal assistant, it’s absolutely worth an hour or two of your time to upgrade.

Alternately, this would work well as a dedicated server. Slap a copy of CentOS or FreeBSD on this tower, and you’ll have a local server ready to handle just about anything you throw at it. And since it’s so affordable, this is a great opportunity for professional developers to nab multiple identical machines for bigger projects.

If you’re in need of a powerful workhorse PC for the office or living room, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better value than this model. While a traditional desktop PC like the K450e can never rival the portability of a tablet or Ultrabook, you simply can’t beat this kind of price-performance ratio. And with a little care and some occasional upgrades, this could easily last you five years or more.
